We Will Succeed

“Our children may learn about the heroes of the past. Our task is to make ourselves architects of the future.”
Jomo Kenyatta

The “We Will Succeed!” Masiphumelele Township fund program benefits NGO’s that are on the front lines of poverty. Some of these NGO’s feed starving refugees that are learning local languages (including English) in order to work.

Other NGO’s are educating hungry children that need food to learn. And others work with children in after school programs (music, sports) trying to keep kids and youth from being indoctrinated into gang and drug activities. These NGO’s are often poorly funded if at all.

NOTE: This fund is named after the English translation of Masiphumelele – “We will succeed”. Early settlers in Masi named it this in anticipation of a better life resulting from the impacts of Apartheid, division in neighboring countries and starvation.

Oi! will encourage, support and educate these NGO’s on Sunday Evenings while working on funding relief from partners like you. Oi!’s goals are to prepare these frontline leaders for financial sustainability, additional staff and access to healthy foods (non-UN foods) which stimulates the economy and provides jobs.

SUCCESS MATTERS

Because of you, Masi can succeed. It's time to ramp up the support where it's needed most.

Few of the Program Details:

  • Healthy Foods and Prep

  • COVID & Disaster Preparedness Training

  • Trauma Informed Care

  • Community Development Workshops

  • Bible Studies and Discipleship Training

More About Masiphumelele

There are at least 30,000 men, women and children living in poverty in the Township called Masiphumelele (Masi) with between 70 and 80% unemployed and hungry.

Did you know that there are local (indigenous) NGO’s (non-profits) in Townships like Masi? These NGO’s are on the front lines of poverty needing resources and relief leaving room for Gospel conversations while addressing hunger. These NGO’s are understaffed (usually just one person feeding hundreds) and underfunded (usually self-funded) because they don’t know YOU. That’s what separates financially healthy NGO’s from underfunded ones. It’s who you know and poverty inflicted NGO’s rarely have time to get outside of their circles to build relationship. Oikos Intl wants to use our relationship capital to connect you to giving while we educate the NGO’s on fundraising, communication (newsletters, etc), “Helping Without Hurting” models of ministry and being healthy in their work.
